The former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization pleaded guilty to 15 counts of fraud and tax evasion, totaling $1.76 million in unreported income between 2005 and 2021.

Allen Weisselberg

, who has worked for the Trump family for nearly 50 years, is accused of having taken advantage of in-kind benefits from the company: apartment in Manhattan, rental of Mercedes, cash for his vacation.

The

New York Times

sees Monday's deal as a "

 consolation prize

" for prosecutors who have been trying to incriminate Donald Trump for more than a year.

Don't "betray" Trump

Because if the former president is very linked to his company, the charges against him, which were made public during the summer of 2021, do not accuse him of any embezzlement.

And Allen Weisselberg, during the negotiation of this agreement, refused until the end to "

betray

" the former president: he agreed to testify in October against the company, but should not involve Donald Trump or his family.

The former president and those close to him continue to claim that all the legal proceedings against him are in fact a "

witch hunt

 " led by the Democrats.

Monday, after the conclusion of the agreement, the Trump Organization organized, for the 75 years of Allen Weisselberg, a big party at the Trump Tower.
