It was Fagersta-Posten that was the first with the news that Västanfors-Västervåla parish plans to open a health center.

An application has been submitted to the region and the search for competent personnel has stealthily started.

Henrik Rydberg, vicar of the parish, says that the plan to open in the first quarter of 2023 looks good as long as it does not go awry in any instance.

Powers multiple moves

The Västanfors-Västervåla parish has been running a funeral home since before, which they were the first in Sweden to do, and which has since expanded to several locations in the country.

They were also the first to open a school and a treatment home.

In addition to this, they operate a conference facility and legal office.

However, the fact that Västanfors-Västervåla parish runs several different businesses has not been completely frictionless over the years.

The tours around the funeral contractor Henrik Rydberg and his parish opened in 2005 have been several, not least because it could mean a competitive advantage over other funeral homes.

Strong support from the church

Earlier this year, the investigation carried out by the Church of Sweden in the matter determined that funeral parlors may be run by congregations.

There is also strong support in the Church of Sweden at the national level.

- This is something we have been doing for 2,000 years.

It's not about out-competing others, but about making healthcare better.

This thing with care, school and care, it has grown out of the church and Christian faith.

She is the church's oldest daughter, says Mikael Mogren, bishop of Västerås diocese.
