Today, Friday, the Syndicate of Actors in Syria announced the death of actor Bassam Lutfi Abu Ghazaleh at the age of 82, and the late actor, father of the young artist, Iyas Abu Ghazaleh.

Actor Bassam Lutfi - born in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm in 1940 and then moved with his family to Syria after the catastrophe of 1948 - is one of the first generations of Syrian drama and the contributors to its founding.

This made some call him the "Dean of Syrian Drama", especially since he presented during his career a large number of the most important works, the most famous of which are "Diary of a General Manager", "The End of a Brave Man", "The Brothers of Soil", and "Palestinian Alienation".

It is also one of the most famous radio voices;

He presented many works, including the program "The Judgment of Justice", which he presented over a period of 30 years.

Establishing artistic institutions in Syria

Bassam Lutfi received his primary education in Tulkarm schools and his father was a teacher, but when the 1948 war broke out, the Arab Salvation Army arrived from Syria to Palestine;

His city of Tulkarm witnessed many battles, and at that time his mother participated in establishing a hospital with the women of her city and volunteered to cook food for the wounded and soldiers.

When the Salvation Army withdrew, the family moved to Syria, hoping to return to Palestine again.

Years later, Bassam Lutfi began his artistic and theatrical activities in Damascus in 1957, and contributed to the establishment of a number of Syrian artistic institutions, including the Arab Youth Club, the Syrian National Theatre, the Syrian Military Theatre, and the Palestinian National Theatre.

During a career that spanned for many years, Bassam Lotfi presented about 109 works, the last of which was his appearance as a guest of honor in the series “The Guardian of Jerusalem” in 2020, and a guest of honor in “Bab Al Hara” the tenth part in 2019, and among his works are “Ancient Shams Streets”, and “ Shababeek, “Qa’ Al-Madina”, “Al-Hout” and “Bild from Al-Khasra”, and he presented the character of Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr in the series “Fares Bani Marwan” and “Alam Al Kabira”.

In the cinema, he presented the films "Damascus - Aleppo", "The Flower of Aleppo", "Damascus with My Love" and "Men Under the Sun".
