Storms in Corsica: in Sagone, vacationers and residents still in shock

Corsica is still under storms and in orange vigilance.

Last night, the rain and the wind continued to sweep the island of Beauty with gusts of more than 70 km / h, according to Météo-France.

A night of anguish for residents and vacationers on site after the deadly bad weather on Thursday morning, which left five dead, including a 13-year-old girl, and 20 injured.

300 firefighters were mobilized to help the victims.

At sea, where a fisherman and a kayaker lost their lives, rescuers carried out 125 interventions for drifting boats.

Some of these boats have washed up on the beach.

From the beach, Dominique watches her boat attached to the ring.

He withstood the storm.

This is not the case with half a dozen boats stranded on the sand.

"You see there, there are three stranded boats," she describes.

"I'm 67 and I've never seen this. Never. I'm still scared, I'm still watching my boat."

A "real carnage"

Julien was less lucky, he was sleeping in his sailboat when the wind picked up.

Unable to react.

"It ends in a funny way, but we remain lucky given the violence," he explains.

"We were all in port, moored, and the mooring lines let go. The boats clashed too much for an hour. It was a real carnage."

Sagone is one of the coastal villages most affected by the storm.

On Thursday, residents and vacationers rolled up their sleeves to clean up the beach and the campsite and try to forget as quickly as possible this tornado which left one dead and a dozen injured on the spot, including one serious over only a few square kilometers. .
