China News Service, August 19. According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in the United States on the 19th, Qin Gang, the Chinese ambassador to the United States, said in an interview a few days ago that "China phobia" does exist in the United States, and it is still spreading.

He believes that the US side should view China's development intentions in a fair and objective way, keeping in mind that the common interests and responsibilities of the two countries far outweigh differences.

Differences or disagreements should not be allowed to hinder the development of bilateral relations and become a reason for confrontation and hostility.

Qin Gang recently accepted an exclusive interview with Steve Clemons, the host of "The Bottom Line" of Al Jazeera's English Channel, and the special editor of "Semaphore" News Agency and "Capitol Hill", focusing on the Taiwan issue, China U.S. relations answer questions.

Qin Gang said in an exclusive interview that China is committed to giving its people a better life.

But unfortunately, China is misunderstood and misjudged as a challenge or even a threat to the United States, trying to replace the United States.

We hope to maintain a stable and cooperative relationship with the United States, because we believe that China and the United States have huge common responsibilities and common interests.

A sound China-US relationship serves the interests of both countries and the aspirations of the international community to pursue peace, security and jointly tackle common challenges.

He said the current state of Sino-US relations is very worrying and is going downhill.

This is because China is misunderstood and misjudged, and Sino-US relations are driven by fear rather than common interests and shared responsibility.

"I think it's time to put common sense, common interests and shared responsibility back at the center of China-U.S. relations. Differences shouldn't be an excuse for confrontation or lead us down the wrong path to confrontation conflict."

In response to the question of "the escalation of Taiwan-related remarks in the United States, what is causing Americans' concerns and concerns about China's behavior to increase", Qin Gang responded that "China phobia" does exist in the United States, and it is still spreading.

"I do feel that in this country, Asian hatred is on the rise. Chinese scientists and Chinese students feel more and more insecure in the United States. Our normal exchanges and cooperation in various fields are also negatively affected by this fear."

In addition, with regard to the so-called "China-US decoupling theory", Qin Gang said that China does not believe that "decoupling" is in the interests of either China or the US.

Given the size, influence, and responsibilities of China and the United States, "decoupling" will damage each other and the world.

He also pointed out that, secondly, China does not want to "decouple".

We hope that the two sides can get rid of the predicament of bilateral relations through more exchanges and cooperation.

For this we need to follow some very important principles.

In other words, Sino-US relations should be based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.

Qin Gang also said that he is very worried about the level of mutual trust between China and the United States.

This state occurs because China is seen as a challenge, because of the prevalence of "China phobia" in the United States.

Seeing the other person as a friend or partner or as a threat or challenge is quite different.

How to restore mutual trust between the two countries?

Qin Gang believes that it is necessary to return to the most basic thing, that is, the United States should view China's development intentions in a fair and objective manner, and keep in mind that the common interests and responsibilities of the two countries far outweigh differences.

Differences or disagreements should not be allowed to hinder the development of bilateral relations and become a reason for confrontation and hostility.

He cited the musical "Hamilton" as an example of the life experience of Hamilton, the first U.S. Treasury Secretary.

"Hamilton had a political enemy, the then Vice President of the United States, Aaron Burr. They didn't end well on the show, and the two fought a duel. At the end of the duel, Vice President Burr regretted that the world was big enough to accommodate Get me and Hamilton." Qin Gang said, "Let's look at the world today and China-US relations. I want to borrow Mr. Burr's words, the world is big enough to accommodate China and the US. The tragedy repeats itself today."
