“Portugal believes that the main purpose of the sanctions regime should be to punish the Russian war machine, not the Russian people,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement quoted by the Eco newspaper.

It is noted that Portugal will take part in the discussion of this issue at the European level.

Earlier it was reported that at an informal meeting in Prague on August 31, the foreign ministers of the EU countries will discuss the possibility of changing the Schengen visa code to reduce the issuance of visas to Russians.
