In the Shizuoka constituency of the House of Councilors election held last month, LDP lawmaker Yohei Wakabayashi, who was elected for the first time, received election support from members related to the former Unification Church of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. I understood from the interview.

Wakabayashi commented, "I didn't know there were people from the former Unification Church. I have no intention of getting involved in the future."

Yohei Wakabayashi, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, was elected for the first time in the Shizuoka constituency in the House of Councilors election held on the 10th of last month.

According to his sources, he received support during the election period, including having members associated with the former Unification Church help him make phone calls asking for votes.

He called the number on the list of supporters provided by the Liberal Democratic Party Shizuoka Prefectural Federation to each branch and called for votes for Wakabayashi, and the activity was volunteer and unpaid.

In addition, on June 26, during the election period, Wakabayashi visited a facility related to the former Unification Church in Shizuoka City under the guidance of a member of the prefectural assembly of the Liberal Democratic Party and participated in an election encouragement meeting.

In an interview with NHK, Wakabayashi said, "I didn't know about the telephone support, and halfway through the encouragement meeting, I found out that it was the former Unification Church, so I protested to the prefectural assembly members and immediately refused their support. I have no intention of getting involved in the future. In the future, I would like the prefectural federation to consider reviewing how each member of the Diet interacts."
