Shortly before one o'clock on the night of Friday, a passenger car collided head-on with a truck that was driving on the wrong side of the road.
The accident occurred at Flättnaleden near Björkö between Nyköping and Oxelösund (in Nyköping municipality) at the height of Arnö Industrial Area.
The car has flipped off the road and landed upside down on a footpath and cycle path next to it.
According to a source on site, "the car was just scrap".
The accident is likely to be serious with serious personal injuries.
Emergency services from Nyköping and Oxelösund were alerted.
