The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia detained an agent of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Krasnodar who was passing information to Kyiv.

As stated in the message of the Center for Public Relations (DSP) of the FSB, the SBU agent, who was caught red-handed under the pseudonym Archie, carried out an initiative collection and transfer of information to the Ukrainian side.

“As a result of operational-search measures, it was revealed that the Russian established contact with representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine and, on their instructions, illegally received and transferred abroad information that could be used against the security of the Russian Federation for a monetary reward,” the FSB CSO said in a statement.

A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under Art.

275 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("high treason").

Earlier, the FSB reported two similar incidents.

On March 25, the service announced the arrest of an SBU agent who was spying on Ukrainian journalists and political scientists who worked in the Russian Federation, and was also trying to obtain information about military personnel participating in a special operation in Ukraine.

According to the department, the detainee was born in Kharkov, he has dual citizenship - Ukraine and Poland.

The FSB clarified that the man arrived in Moscow in 2019 and entered one of the leading universities at the Faculty of Political Science in order to expand “opportunities for espionage.”

The detainee admitted to collaborating with the SBU, and also spoke about the circumstances of his recruitment and the nature of the tasks performed.

In addition, he told the security forces that while studying at the Warsaw Academy of Military Art, he collaborated with the Polish Intelligence Agency, providing information about students from Belarus and Ukraine.

On the same day, the FSB announced the arrest of a resident of Khabarovsk, who, according to the agency, was trying to sell “restricted information” to representatives of the Ukrainian special services.

As specified in the FSB, the attacker had access to such information and, pursuing mercenary intent, he turned to the Ukrainian special service with a proposal to send this data in exchange for a monetary reward.

According to the Russian special services, the data could be used to the detriment of the security of the Russian Federation, including for the commission of sabotage actions.

The department stressed that the attacker failed to realize his plans.

On August 19, the FSB Department for Moscow and the Moscow Region announced that three residents of the Moscow region were convicted of transferring money to the Ukrainian fund Come Back Alive, which helps the Armed Forces of Ukraine with drones and thermal imagers.

They received an official warning that their actions create the conditions for committing a crime classified as treason.

“Taking into account the fact that the actions of these Russian citizens related to the provision of financial assistance to a foreign organization whose activities are directed against the security of Russia create conditions for the commission of a crime under article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia, an official warning has been issued to them,” RIA Novosti quotes a message from the department. .

On July 4, the FSB Department for Moscow and the Moscow Region also warned a Russian who was transferring money to the Come Back Alive Foundation.

Recall that at the end of February, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation warned about the responsibility for helping other states, if it comes to harm to Russia's security. 

“For each fact of providing financial and other assistance to a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation, a legal assessment will be given,” the department said.

The report of the Prosecutor General's Office also noted that the punishment under the article for treason implies imprisonment for up to 20 years.
