From the first of September, everyone who is 65 or older, or has turned 18 and belongs to a risk group, is recommended to take a top-up dose against covid-19.

To take a top-up dose, at least four months must have passed since the last dose was taken.

Covid-19 usually spreads more during the autumn and winter months and the vaccine provides good protection against serious illness, says Kristine Rygge, vaccination coordinator in the Västra Götaland region.

"Replenishment if you want"

For other residents between 18-64 years of age, there is no recommendation to take a new dose of vaccine.

- The risk of becoming seriously ill if you are under the age of 65 is generally low if you have been vaccinated with three doses.

But the risk rises with age and looks different within the group.

Therefore, we offer everyone who is 18-64 years old to take a top-up dose if they want to do so, says Kristine Rygge.

The health center contacts the elderly

Those aged 80 and over will be contacted by their healthcare centre.

Others can turn to any vaccination clinic.

In December 2020, Västra Götaland, together with several other regions around the country, began vaccination against covid-19.

One of the first people out of the country was Rosa Johansson, 99 years old.
