The UAE has expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with the brotherly People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, as a result of the fires spreading in a number of states in the east of the country, which led to the death and injury of dozens.

Violent forest fires in recent days in Algeria have killed at least 38 people, according to a new death toll compiled yesterday based on official sources and journalists' testimonies.

The death toll from the fires rose to 30 in the Tarfa region in the Far East, near the border with Tunisia, five in Souk Ahras, two women in Setif (east), and one person in Guelma, also in the east, according to the Civil Protection and local journalists and An-Nahar TV.

The Algerian newspaper "An-Nahar" indicated on its website that the state of Souk Ahras announced that the bodies of five victims from one family, from the municipality of Madourouch, had been found, at dawn yesterday, following the forest fires that broke out on Wednesday, in a number of the state's municipalities.

And the Algerian radio today quoted the vigilance cell of the state of El Tarf as saying that the deaths in the state are distributed to 11 children, six women and 13 men.

The radio indicated that by order of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Prime Minister, Ayman bin Abdulrahman, arrived at Annaba International Airport, after which he moved to the Wilayat of El-Tarf, to find out the situation and follow up on the field and direct efforts made to confront the fire.

The person in charge of information at the General Directorate of Civil Protection, Captain Naseem Barnawi, confirmed the control of the fires in the most inflammable areas, noting that there were only two fires left in El Tarf, and efforts are continuing to put them out.

Barnawi revealed that “38 fires have been extinguished out of a total of 63 fires,” stressing that the teams in the burning points were supported by more than 1,700 additional aid, in a proactive step by the General Directorate of Civil Protection following the Meteorological Bureau bulletin, which indicates the high temperatures in the eastern states.

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Interior, Local Governments and Urban Development, Kamal Beljoud, announced on Wednesday that 26 deaths had been recorded, including 24 in the state of El Tarf and two victims in the state of Setif, as a result of the fires that broke out in a number of forests across some states in the country, revealing that 106 fires had been recorded that destroyed 800 hectares of forests and hectares of land. bushes since the beginning of this month.
