China News Service, August 18. According to Taiwan's "Central News Agency", July and August are usually the active periods for the formation of typhoons in the Northwest Pacific Ocean. However, since August this year, Taiwan has not issued a typhoon warning. It is estimated that due to the influence of the Pacific La Niña phenomenon and the Indian Ocean cold in the west and warm in the east, it is difficult to generate typhoons. Since July, there have been only 5 typhoons in total, making it the second fewest year on record.

According to the data of the Taiwan Meteorological Department, the top three typhoon warnings issued at the latest in the year were the "Nanxiu" typhoon on August 30, 2010, the "Tasha" typhoon on August 17, 1993, and the "Tasha" typhoon on August 17, 1997. Typhoon Winnie, the record may be set again this year at the latest.

Taiwan's summer rainfall is very dependent on typhoon rainfall. The meteorological department said that this year, due to the absence of typhoon and southwest airflow, the rainfall in various places since July has been less than the same period, and the rainfall in the southern mountainous areas is only 30% during the same period. We call on the public to save water.

Jia Xinxing, director of Taiwan Integrated Disaster Prevention Engineering Technology Consulting Company, pointed out that if there is no typhoon invading Taiwan in August this year, it will be the first time on record that there will be no typhoon invading Taiwan for three consecutive years from January to August.
