The storms that have fallen in recent hours on the perimeter of the

Bejís

(Castellón) and

Vall d'Ebo

(Alicante) fires have collaborated in the extinction tasks and have left a large part of the perimeter of the devastated area without flames.

The president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has confirmed after the CECOPI meeting that in the next few hours the one that affects the valleys of the interior of Alicante, which has burned almost 12,000 hectares, could be considered stabilized, while the one in Alto Palancia is still latent , has devastated 13,100 hectares of forest and the authorities warn that "a change of wind could revive it."

"You can't see the flame, but there is danger. We can't generate false hopes because

the fire is alive, and it can't even be considered perimeter

. We must bear in mind that this morning more than 1,600 lightning strikes have struck the Valencian Community and generated between 10 and 15 points of small fires already suffocated only in Castellón", warned the president, who confirmed that they are prepared in case, due to these rays, some other fire could occur, such as the two that are alive, although limited, in the

Vall d'Albaida

and

Alto Maestrazgo

.

Two more that started overnight in Petrer and Benaguasil have been extinguished.

"We can say that it is the best day of the week

," assured Puig, insisting on the need for caution.

34 aerial means are already working in the area, to where units of the UME that were in Vall d'Ebo have moved and that will reinforce control in Castellón despite the fact that the rain has given a respite to the firefighters.

"It's raining in Bejís. We can't claim victory at all, but the help of the water will be very important. We keep working," the Castellón Provincial Firefighters Consortium said after midnight through its Twitter account, where it shared the video that "more illusion" made them publish: the rain in the area.

The tasks are focused on delimiting the perimeter so that it cannot advance towards the Sierra de Espadá and the Sierra Calderona, in the province of Valencia, as well as the municipality of El Toro, in the border area with Teruel.

The front that threatens the Calderona, towards

Alcublas

and

Andilla

, continues to be of concern.

As for the return of the neighbors, Puig confirmed that it will be evaluated throughout the morning.

"It will be determined if the residents of the four evicted towns can return to their homes and if the confinement of

Viver

is lifted . But we must not create false illusions because the fire is alive," he insisted.

Rehousing in Vall d'Ebo

Those who are returning to their homes are part of the residents of the 11 municipalities affected by the Vall d'Ebo fire.

No front has a flame, despite the fact that during the night there was a regrowth in

Benimassot

that was controlled and in the next few hours it could be considered stabilized.

Late on Wednesday, the Generalitat began to authorize the return to their homes of the evicted neighbors in a staggered manner.

Among the first to do so were those from Vall de la Gallinera, cautiously "because the roads have branches, stones," warned the Emergency services.

They have found their houses undamaged, but in a burned environment.

In fact, the

shelters

located in Pego and Muro have already begun to be dismantled, having fulfilled their function.

President Puig has assured that the Generalitat is already considering asking the Government to declare

a catastrophic area

in the forest land affected by the fires in the Vall d'Ebo and Bejís.

"Fortunately, the Mediterranean forest is recovering. It is resilient. What is clear is that it will take decades to return to a forest like the one we had in Vall d'Ebo or Alto Palancia (Castellón)," he declared in an interview on Cadena SER, collected by Europa Press.

Puig has guaranteed that the Generalitat will promote reforestation tasks "when possible", based on planning based not only on replanting what was burned.

He has thus advocated a

"great reforestation action"

both in the Valencian Community and in the whole of Spain to combat climate change, since "the forest is the great collector of CO2".

train investigation

The Valencian president did not want to assess the train accident that was caught in the Bejís fire and that keeps five people hospitalized for burns, one in a very serious condition.

"It is a matter that is judicialized. There are different versions and the command of the fire will make a report that we have requested from the Generalitat and that will be sent to the judge and will be made public," he assured.

"You have to investigate the communications, the security cameras of the train... because the versions are very different and you have to be rigorous. Everyone acted with the utmost good faith and professionalism, but we are facing a fire of such magnitude and virulence, that it changed so much, that it had been decided not to evacuate Bejís and, after fifteen minutes, it had to be done," he recalled.
