This year's election posters have been completed and party leader Lena Dafgård is on site at the print shop to see that everything was done right.

Sorundanet, Nynäshamn's fourth largest party, wants Sorunda and Ösmo to form their own municipality.

Sorundanet Nynäshamn's municipal party started in 2004 as a business network but became a political party the following year.

It is the second time that the party has gone to the polls - with municipal division as an election issue.

Hear Lena Dafgård tell why Sorunda wants to break free in the video.

Big issue in other municipalities as well

Even in Botkyrka and Huddinge there are parties that want to see a division of the municipalities.

The Tullinge party wants Tullinge to break away from the rest of the municipality and the Drevviken party wants to create its own municipality from the eastern parts, which are relatively far from the central town of Huddinge.

- By forming Tullinge municipality, local democracy would take a big step forward with better local anchoring of the decisions.

Clearer accountability and better opportunities for contact with the local politicians are just some of the lasting advantages

,

writes Carl Widercrantz, political secretary in the Tullinge party.

- If we became our own municipality, democracy would be better because all questions in the municipal council would be about our residential areas and all politicians would live here and be aware of it, writes Ingalill Söderberg, Drevvikenpartiet, municipal councilor.

Investigation is in place

Right now, an investigation is underway to show whether it is possible with a municipal division in Nynäshamn.

There, both Sorunda as its own municipality but also a merger with Ösmo are investigated.

If Sorunda were to be merged with Ösmo, the municipality would consist of between 14,000 and 15,000 inhabitants, that is, just over half of everyone who lives in Nynäshamn municipality today.
