Voices have been raised among the opposition after several videos of a partying Sanna Marin were spread on social media.

In the videos, which the Finnish evening newspaper Iltalehti was the first to share, the prime minister dances and sings together with a group of famous Finnish people.

Now several members of the opposition, including the Center's member of parliament Mikko Kärna and the chairman of the True Finns Riikka Purra, are demanding that the Finnish prime minister take a drug test, reports Yle.

Raised questions about drug use

The leaked videos have raised questions as to whether the prime minister was under the influence of alcohol, or possibly other substances.

However, this is refuted by the Prime Minister, who believes that she had only drunk alcohol - which is completely legal, she tells Yle.

Marin also points out that these are private videos, and that she, like everyone else, has a private life.

- I am disappointed that they have become public.

I spent the evening with friends.

Partyed, quite wildly, yes.

Danced and sang, but this is not illegal, she says.

May have damaged trust in the prime minister

The videos have also been widely distributed nationally and internationally.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin says that it is impossible to judge how they will be received in the international arena.

- Some probably think that everyone has the right to free time and others that it is not acceptable behavior of a prime minister.

I would think that opinions differ in the same way in Finland too, she says.

According to her, however, it is the Finns who must decide whether she has made a mistake, but that her social democratic government still has confidence in her, which the chairman of the Riksdag group, Antti Lindtman, confirms.

- Our group has confidence in the Prime Minister, there is no doubt, says Lindtman to Yle.
