The Egyptian Public Prosecution denies the description of "mayors" in the Abu Sefein church fire

Today, Thursday, the Egyptian Public Prosecution denied the premeditated capacity in the Abu Seifen Church fire in Imbaba, which occurred last Sunday and led to deaths and injuries.

The Public Prosecution Office said, in a statement posted on its Facebook page today, that its investigations ended with "the intentional absence of the fire that broke out in the Church of the Great Martyr Philopateer Mercurios Abu Sefein" in Imbaba in Giza Governorate.

According to the statement, "Investigations confirmed that the cause of the accident was the ignition of an electric generator inside the church after it was turned on due to a power outage in it in conjunction with the return of the current, due to a defect in the electrical connections coming out of the generator, which were installed five years ago, and its irregular extension to the switchboard, and the increased loads on it. Which resulted in the outbreak of the fire, and its tongues extended from the floor where the generator was located to another floor.

According to the statement, the Public Prosecution had ascertained from this result the consistency of the anecdotal evidence in the investigations with the technical evidence in them, as the Public Prosecution asked 33 witnesses, including 16 injured.

Police investigations, supported by witnesses, also confirmed that no one had deliberately caused the bad condition of the connections and generator, or caused the fire, which led the Public Prosecution to save the investigations.

A fire broke out during the Divine Liturgy in Abu Sefein Church, which resulted in the death of 41 people, including the church's priest, and the injury of 14 others.
