Abu Dhabi Police revealed the death of a child, who suffocated in his father's car, who was with him, as he got out of it after they arrived at the house and forgot him inside, and attributed the reason for this to the neglect of the guardian, who was busy throughout the trip with a phone conversation about his work problems, until he realized late while he was inside the house, He forgot his son inside the chariot and closed it in the hot sun.

Captain Engineer Mohammed Hamad Al-Esai, from the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, warned against the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents, and endangering children's lives, due to neglect and inattention on the part of some parents, pointing out that "forgetting a child inside a vehicle is a crime, and its punishment is imprisonment or a fine." Which is not less than 5000 dirhams for the guardian or escort of the child, according to the Child Law (Wadeema).

He pointed out that "Wadeema's law tightens the penalty for negligence and endangering the life and safety of the child, including leaving a child alone and forgetting him inside the vehicle, in addition to other penalties in the event that this causes the child's death."

Alesayi warned of the danger of leaving children in vehicles unattended or forgetting them, especially with the high temperatures in the summer, which exposes them to the risk of death or suffocation due to lack of oxygen caused by global warming inside the vehicle, as well as other risks arising from leaving children alone inside the vehicle until If it is in operation, the child can play with the steering gear, causing it to move and causing a traffic accident, and endangering his life.

He stressed the importance of the parents’ keenness to ensure that all their children get off the vehicle after disembarking, on any trip accompanied by them, whether they are heading to a shopping center, home or otherwise, in order to avoid any of the similar situations that may lead to the victim of an innocent child as a result of neglect of the child’s guardian or from be responsible for it.

He explained that “the safety of children inside the vehicle is important, and the Federal Traffic and Traffic Law has established two violations in this regard: the first is to allow a child under the age of ten to sit in the front seat, and the driver will be fined 400 dirhams, four traffic points, and the vehicle will be seized at a value of 5,000 dirhams, and the second is not to provide protection seats. For children aged four years and under while they are in the vehicle in the back seat, the driver shall be punished with a fine of 400 dirhams.

The country witnessed several incidents of leaving children in vehicles and forgetting them, which exposed them to the risk of death, especially during the summer period, and the high temperatures witnessed, which cause their death or expose the child to suffocation quickly due to lack of oxygen.

Abu Dhabi Police confirmed its continuation of its efforts to raise awareness of the safety of children in vehicles as part of its campaign to raise awareness of child seats, enhance their safety in vehicles and protect against the causes of fire accidents, as part of the "Safe Summer" campaign, which focuses on educating the community to adhere to the preventive measures and safety requirements necessary to spend a safe summer without hassles.

She added that the safety of children from all dangers comes at the forefront of the priorities, calling for the need to adhere to the traffic law, by providing children's seats in the back seats of vehicles.

She stated that children's seats should be commensurate with their weight and height in accordance with the standard specifications in force in the country, and warned against embracing the father and mother of their children in the front seat while driving, as this is a wrong behavior that poses a threat to the life and safety of our children.
