“According to the man, the decision to go to Belarus and seek protection was made out of fear for his own life and health,” the State Border Committee of Belarus said in a statement.

The foreigner was allowed to enter the territory of the state and was recommended to apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for obtaining the appropriate status.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko earlier decided to introduce a temporary visa-free entry for Polish citizens, which will be valid from July 1 to December 31 inclusive. 

In July, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Pavel Yablonsky said that the department did not recommend citizens to use this right.
