Opening judicial investigations into the forest fires in Algeria

Today, Thursday, the Algerian Ministry of Justice announced the opening of judicial investigations against unknown persons about the forest fires to ascertain their source, after the occurrence of many deaths.

In a statement reported by the Algerian radio, the ministry said, "Following the fires that touched some of Algeria's states, which led to many deaths and the destruction of forest areas and buildings, the Republic's competent prosecutors have ordered the opening of judicial investigations against unknown persons about these facts to ascertain their source if it was criminal and to identify the perpetrators." When necessary, in order to pursue them judicially with the strictness required by the gravity of these acts and in accordance with the laws of the Republic.

In turn, Prime Minister (Prime Minister) Ayman bin Abdul Rahman announced the start of compensating those affected by forest fires, starting next week.

The Algerian Ministry of Culture announced the suspension and postponement of all artistic demonstrations until a later time, in solidarity with the families of the fire victims, who numbered about 38 people.
