His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that the human element is the basis and the most important and most influential component in enhancing the positive impact that charitable and humanitarian initiatives make in the lives of millions of people, and achieving its lofty goals around the world.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation celebrates the World Humanitarian Day, corresponding to August 19 of each year, in which the United Nations focuses this year on the importance of strengthening the global coalition for humanitarian action and concerted efforts to confront humanitarian crises, in parallel with the increase in requirements in the field of humanitarian work to rates world standards, especially in terms of food security, climate change, health care, education and sustainability.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s global initiatives continue to enable joint cooperation and concerted efforts locally, regionally and globally between humanitarian cadres, its partnerships and institutions through its five axes of work, which are the axis of humanitarian and relief aid, the axis of health care and disease control, the axis of spreading education and knowledge, and the axis of future innovation and leadership. The cadres of the International Humanitarian City, the Emirates Food Bank, the Mohammed bin Rashid Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Emirates Water Foundation, and the Mohammed bin Rashid International Center for Endowment and Endowment Consultation, all under the umbrella of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives within the humanitarian and relief aid axis, succeeded in Expanding the paths of cooperation and partnership with relevant institutions and local communities, which achieved 22.9 million people during 2021, with allocations amounting to 417 million dirhams to finance projects and initiatives in this axis, which is the most prominent in the rapid response to disasters and crises in partnership with all parties.

Among the qualitative initiatives in the charitable and humanitarian aid axis, the "100 million meals" campaign, which succeeded in distributing 220 million meals in 47 countries, exceeding the volume and value of the targeted support for the initiative.

The employees of two institutions affiliated with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives within the axis of health care and disease control, namely the Noor Dubai Foundation and the Al Jalila Foundation to support education and research in the medical fields, cooperated with local institutions and international organizations in dozens of countries within the axis of health care and disease control, which resulted in reaching: 14.6 million people in 2021, with allocations amounting to 51.2 million dirhams.

In this context, joint cooperation and concerted efforts on the ground raised the number of beneficiaries of initiatives that provided treatment against trachoma, which affects the eye, to 14.5 million people during 2021, while the Foundation's "Aoun" initiative provided 11 million dirhams of support for the treatment of patients.

Humanitarian work cadres provided high and diverse experiences through institutions and initiatives under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation within the pillar of education and knowledge dissemination, namely Dubai Cares, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, Knowledge Summit, and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award School platform for Arabic e-learning, the digital school, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, the Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award, and the Arab Reading Challenge.

Employees and volunteers within its specialized institutions facilitated this vital development field, reaching 48.4 million people in initiatives during 2021, with projects totaling 253 million dirhams.

Thanks to coordination with government institutions, educational districts, schools and parents, the Arab Reading Challenge in its sixth session reached 22 million participants from 44 countries to enable them in the areas of educational and cognitive achievement, and to enable them with reading and reading skills and access to interesting and useful information.

The cadres and institutions of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s global initiatives have been strengthened within the axis of future innovation and leadership, which include the Museum of the Future, the One Million Arab Coders Initiative, the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, the Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Supporting Youth Enterprises, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Water Award, work to establish principles and standards that support pioneering thought and develop innovative solutions to societal challenges, in line with the global trend to build knowledge-based economies, and invest advanced technology to achieve the good of humanity and build a more prosperous and developing future for peoples.

In 2021, the initiatives programs within this axis reached 2.9 million people, with allocations amounting to 337 million dirhams, which were allocated to humanitarian projects and programs in this vital sector.

Within this axis, the Museum of the Future, which was inaugurated last February, is a global platform to anticipate the future, while the One Million Arab Coders Initiative, which has trained 2.9 million young men and women from 80 countries, aims to empower young people in the Arab world and arm them with basic skills of the programmed language.

The efforts of the initiatives’ cadres and institutions are combined in local and international programs within the axis of community empowerment, through the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government, the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Cultural Understanding, the Arab Media Forum, the Arab Press Award, the Arab Social Media Pioneers Summit and Award, and the Dubai Conference The International Athlete, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Creativity, the Arab Strategic Forum, the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development, and the Hope Makers Initiative.

The positive effects of the humanitarian work programs in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives within the pillar of empowering societies have affected 2.1 million people, with a total expenditure of 88.7 million dirhams.

In this regard, the number of beneficiaries of the initiatives and activities of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Cultural Understanding reached more than 32,000 people in 2021.

Food support for the poor and needy in 50 countries
