This was stated by a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry during a briefing.

According to him, Russia's military doctrine allows nuclear response only in response to aggression with the use of weapons of mass destruction or when the very existence of the state is threatened.

He also said that Moscow proceeds from the fact that the United States and the North Atlantic Alliance understand what the aggressive anti-Russian rhetoric pumped up by the West with an emphasis on the possibility of using nuclear weapons can turn into.

Earlier, Nechaev said that Moscow is not interested in a direct clash with the United States and NATO and, being a nuclear power, will continue to act as responsibly as possible.

Prior to this, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the inadmissibility of nuclear war is Russia's principled position.
