Erdogan confirms Turkey's support for Ukraine...and warns of a new "Chernobyl disaster"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed his country's support for Ukraine, expressing his concern over the risk of another Chernobyl disaster, in reference to the dangers surrounding the Russian-controlled Zaporizhia nuclear plant.

"While we continue our efforts for a solution, we have been and will remain at the side of our Ukrainian friends," Erdogan said at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Lviv, Ukraine.

"We are worried. We don't want to live another Chernobyl," he added, referring to the Russian-controlled Zaporizhia nuclear plant.

The Turkish president stated that the tripartite summit also touched on the issue of prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia.

"I want to make it clear that it is an important issue for us, and we will continue to hold consultations in this regard with Russian President Vladimir Putin," he added.
