The parish priest of the town of

San Pedro

(

Albacete

),

Óscar Robledo

, affirmed in his homily last Sunday that same-sex couples "are not wanted by God" and that he is not "forced to accept" their way of living, that has aroused the outrage of LGTBI groups that categorically reject the "serious attack" of his words.

"The person is not judged or accused, nor is the person singled out, nor is the person rejected, but their way of living, those criteria that are being developed, we are not obliged to accept it," Robledo assured in his speech at Sunday mass. , to which he added that each person is "free" in his actions, which "does not mean that they have to be accepted as something normal, as the right thing to do," according to his opinion.

The priest also charged against what he called "gender ideology" and inclusive language: "The detail that seems contradictory to me is that this language rejects the others. You no longer have to say everyone, but everyone. So no it is inclusive, it is exclusive", he considered.

"There are things that cannot be accepted and we are gradually assuming them as something normal, as something of reality, as something wanted by God. For example, the situation of same-sex couples," Robledo said, while he opined that "one thing is that it is common and another thing is that it is normal or wanted by God".

These homophobic comments have been harshly criticized by LGTBI associations and groups in the region, which in a statement have considered that the priest's words are intended to "divert the gaze of his parishioners from all the cases of sexual abuse of minors that are being uncovered in the bosom of the Catholic Church".

In the letter, signed by numerous groups, such as

Quorum+

and

the Feminist Network of Albacete,

it explains that, through a biblical text, the priest promulgated in the homily a speech "of hate against the dignity of LGTBI people", in the which encouraged the "non-acceptance of same-sex marriage and relationships".

The associations have highlighted that the priest "decided that a religious place of worship was a great place to talk about gender ideology" and have pointed out that, in addition, the parish priest classified inclusive language as something "exclusive" and related to the LGTBI community with "pedophilia".

The signatory entities have defended that this sermon is "a serious attack" on coexistence between people of different sexual orientations, identities and gender expressions, as well as "a malicious way" of associating specific sexualities with pederasty.
