The parents of the four-month-old baby found this Sunday evening alone in a car in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis) went to the police station the next day.

The 20-year-old woman and the 36-year-old man were taken into police custody and then released, the prosecution informed Actu Seine-Saint-Denis on Wednesday.

Custody of the little boy was taken away from them, as was that of their other child, aged 2.

An investigation for evasion of a parent from his legal obligations to the point of compromising the health, safety, morals or education of his minor child has been opened.

A starving and abandoned baby

A passerby had raised the alarm after spotting the child in a car that turned out to belong to the father.

After looking around for the parents, she drove the child, starving and with a dirty diaper, to the hospital.
