5.5-magnitude earthquake strikes Chile

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Chile on Wednesday night.

The Volcano Discovery website reported that the quake's epicenter was 42 km southeast of Rancagua, the capital of O'Higgins province, at a depth of 95 km below the surface of the earth.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or material losses as a result of the earthquake.
