• Vall d'Ebo The desolation caused by the flames: "Not only does the landscape burn, but also our future"

The fire in

Bejís

(Castellón) continues to voraciously burn the landscapes of the Alto Palancia region, leaving people injured and homeless.

In less than 24 hours, the hectares burned have multiplied by six, from 600 to 3,600, and there are four populations that have had to be evacuated for prevention,

Bejís

,

Toràs

,

Teresa

and

Sacañet

this same morning, while remaining on alert

Jérica

(with 3,000 inhabitants) and

Viver

confined by strong smoke.

The erratic wind complicates the prediction of the progress of the fire and the extinction tasks in which

three firefighters

were injured , two on Tuesday afternoon when their vehicle was trapped by the flames and one, belonging to the support brigades that have arrived from Aragon, this morning.

All are hospitalized for burns.

The tasks are focused on preventing the fire from reaching the

A-23 motorway

that connects Sagunto with Teruel while the wind is carrying the flames to the south.

The weather forecast warns of a yellow alert for storms in the area that can help slow down progress.

The director of the advanced command post, Andrés Balfago, has assured that the fire continues out of control due to the continuous changes in wind.

"All the work of the night has not been of any use because it has burned again," he explained in statements to À Punt.

Train passengers hospitalized

This fire has not only caused injuries to three firefighters, but also about twenty people had to be treated on Tuesday night when leaving a

train that covered the Valencia-Zaragoza line

.

Panicked, they left the convoy when they saw that the train driver stopped at the Toràs-Bejís halt to back up due to the proximity of the flames.

As confirmed by the Ministry of Health, there are three people hospitalized in the specialized unit of La Fe de Valencia for burns: a 58-year-old woman with extensive severe burns, a 15-year-old girl, with 7% minor burns, and another woman with serious injuries traveling with his son, also hospitalized at the Valencia Clinic but in a minor condition.

In addition, three more travelers were treated in Sagunto, two with burns and another with a fracture.
