There are several reasons why electricity prices are currently hitting the roof.

The war in Ukraine affects gas supplies from Russia, which affects the entire EU and thus also Sweden.

At the same time, wind power does not generate much electricity at the moment because it is not very windy at the moment.

Lena Berglund, regional manager for Eon in northern Sweden, also adds that the transmission of electricity from north to south is lacking between the various electricity areas in the country.

"Supply and demand rule"

- The large differences in electricity prices in northern and southern Sweden are largely due to the division into different electricity price areas where supply and demand are concerned.

In Norrland there is a lot of production in the form of both hydro and wind power.

In southern Sweden, demand is much greater than supply.

Southern Sweden is also closely connected to the European electricity market in general, she explains.

The fluctuating prices on the electricity market will persist, says Lena Berglund.

She also believes that electricity prices in general will rise further during the autumn and winter.

In the video, Lena Berglund tells more about the prices and what the electricity industry can do for the stressed electricity customers.
