The travel pattern in Södertälje and Nykvarn looks different compared to the rest of the county - there are more people who only travel locally, according to Anton Fendert who is the top candidate for the Green Party in Region Stockholm.
Therefore, the MP is now presenting an election promise to re-introduce a cheaper SL card that is valid in Södertälje and Nykvarn.
However, the current card would remain at the same price.
"Will be more expensive"
However, Kristoffer Tamsons (M), who is a traffic regional councilor in Stockholm, is critical.
He believes that more municipalities will want to follow the same path and introduce a local SL card, he also believes that the current card would have to become more expensive with such a system.
- It will be more expensive than today because you have to get the money from somewhere if you are going to dump the prices locally, then the trips across the municipal border will be much more expensive, says Kristoffer Tamsons.
