The press service of the Estonian government said that Russians will not be able to enter the country on issued visas if the purpose of the trip is tourism, business, sports or culture.

Only certain groups of Russians can apply for visas, including diplomats, citizens with a long-term residence permit, as well as those who have a close relative with Estonian citizenship, RIA Novosti reports.

On August 11, the Estonian Foreign Ministry announced that the country would close the borders for Russian citizens with Schengen visas issued by the republic in a week.

Later, the Russian Federal Customs Service reported that the Russian-Estonian border in the Ivangorod-Narva region was closed for an indefinite period.
