The Frankfurt energy supplier Mainova increases prices.
As the company announced, customers will have to pay 15.44 cents per kilowatt hour instead of 11.30 cents for the “Mainova Erdgas Classic” tariff, which is an increase of almost 37 percent.
The gas surcharge, the amount of which was set at 2.4 cents on Monday, has not yet been taken into account, it said.

The basic price remains stable at EUR 94.90 per year.
However, customers with an average annual consumption of 12,000 kilowatt hours will pay EUR 41.50 more per month from October compared to July – with the surcharge, at least EUR 24 per month would be added from October.
Mainova refers to the unprecedented price increases on the energy markets caused by the war in Ukraine.
Installment payment possible
According to Mainova, district heating prices are also affected by these developments because, in accordance with legal requirements, they are linked to indices that are relevant to heat production.
Natural gas and coal, among other things, are required for the generation of district heating, the prices of which have risen sharply on the stock exchanges.
The price increase for district heating has different effects depending on consumption and connected output: In the "Mainova Wärme Classic" tariff, the costs increase by 112.24 euros per month (gross) compared to the last price adjustment of October 1, 2021, with annual heat consumption of 12,000 kilowatt hours and a connected output of 10 kilowatts.
The levies that have been decided on for natural gas are also not included in this figure.
In order to avoid high additional payments, Mainova is currently increasing the advance payments early - and not only after the annual statement has been sent, as is usual.
The municipal company also offers deferral and installment payment models to customers who are having financial difficulties.
