The National Police has arrested 33 thieves red-handed when, allegedly, they
tried to rob homes in various municipalities and districts of Madrid
, taking advantage of the fact that many were empty during the first half of August.
As reported by the Superior Police Headquarters of Madrid, the vast majority of those arrested committed the acts during the secrecy of the night in houses whose doors had been placed days before with plastic witnesses, silicone threads or glue
to verify that they were uninhabited during the summer season
.
The preferred loot of this profile of thieves is
jewelry and cash
, and almost all of them could be intercepted after being detected by residents of the buildings and communities where they were operating.
These 33 arrests are part of the so-called
Summer 2022
operation , a device deployed by the Madrid Police Headquarters with the aim of
preventing the commission of this type of robbery in the capital and the municipalities under its jurisdiction
.
One of the first events recorded during the first fortnight of August occurred at dawn on the 1st in the town of Alcorcón.
The agents
detected three men walking stealthily through an alley
, when they noticed the police presence and fled at a run, starting a chase.
Shortly after, one of the suspects was intercepted, who was hiding
a sock with a multitude of jewels and cash in
his pocket , effects that came from a robbery with force committed before the pursuit.
After the arrest of this alleged thief,
the agents identified his other two companions
, who were arrested the following morning thanks to the warning of an off-duty policeman who caught them manipulating the lock of a portal.
