After a two-year pandemic hiatus, Ironman is back in town.
Eighteen miles by bike, 3.8 kilometers of swimming and 4.2 miles of running are on Saturday's schedule.
A record number of professionals
A total of 3,000 people have registered for the race, of which approximately 70 belong to the professional category.
- This year we have approximately 70 registered professionals, which is a record high if you compare it to previous years, when there are usually around 30, says Magnus Nyberg, competition leader for Ironman 2022.
Kalmar Mini Tri
During the week, the short distance competition Kalmar mini triathlon also starts.
It is Sweden's fourth largest triathlon competition and the organizers expect a public celebration on Wednesday.
- The people of Kalmar have high expectations that we will bring back the folk festival again.
