The drivers of a truck and a car have had to be rescued in southern Norway, after the wooden bridge collapsed over a river they were driving through.
Both are fine, police have reported.
The police received notice early in the morning that the bridge had collapsed when a truck and a car were crossing it.
The car sank into the river while the truck remained on the bridge in a nearly vertical position.
A helicopter collaborated in the rescue operation and removed the driver of the truck.
The driver of the car was able to extricate himself from his vehicle.
The nearly 150 meter long bridge connects the west bank of the
Gudbrandsdalslaagen
river and the town of
Tretten
.
It was inaugurated in 2012, and at the moment the cause of the sinking is unknown.
