The ministry noted that it is absurd for China to use the visit of US congressmen to the island "as a pretext for carrying out dangerous military provocations."
“This can only further undermine regional stability and become a hindrance to critical sea lanes and commercial activities in the Indo-Pacific region, this is illegal and irresponsible,” RIA Novosti quoted the Taiwan Foreign Ministry as saying.
On August 14, a delegation of US congressmen led by Senator Ed Markey arrived in Taiwan.
Beijing urged Washington not to interfere in the internal affairs of the country and to adhere to the policy of one China.
