“American steps to further engage in a hybrid confrontation with Russia in the context of the Ukrainian crisis are fraught with unpredictable escalation and a direct military clash of nuclear powers,” the embassy said in a statement.
The diplomatic mission stressed that it is terrible to hear US accusations against the Russian side about irresponsibility in the nuclear sphere from a country that dropped atomic bombs on civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be unleashed.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow is not playing with the topic of nuclear war.
Lavrov noted that the inadmissibility of nuclear war is Russia's principled position.
