“At 4:40 in the morning, I woke up to a loud explosion and the sound of sirens.”

Last week, an event was held in Tokyo for junior high and high school students to listen to students who had evacuated from Ukraine about their experiences of military aggression.

This summer, young people in Japan who have lived in peaceful times have held discussions with people of the same generation who are suffering from the war.

A group of Japanese junior and senior high school students raised funds through crowdfunding and held events in five locations across the country.

Mari Aya Tsuzuki, who organized the event, said, "It is most necessary to transmit the stories of people who actually experienced war in order to create a future without war."

It was broadcast on "News Watch 9" on August 15.
