The French relay, made up of Hadrien Salvan, Wissam-Amazigh Yebba, Charlotte Bonnet and Lucile Tessariol, achieved a time of 7 min 29 sec 25, behind the British (7.28.16) and ahead of the Italians (7.31.85).

In the lead before the last length, the young Lucile Tessariol (18), flanked by the British 100m bronze medalist Freya Anderson at the water line number 5, cracked in the last meters.

The previous relay, provided by Charlotte Bonnet, had allowed the Blues to approach Great Britain to two tenths.

Silver medalist in the 100m and titled in the 4x100 mixed relay, Bonnet, left to rest in the series, won her third charm of the competition.

Tuesday morning, France, led by Roman Fuchs, Wissam-Amazigh Yebba, Giulia Rossi-Bene and Lucile Tessariol had set the best time with a time of 7 min 38 sec 82.

The 4x200m mixed relay brings the ninth medal of the French delegation, the second of the evening session after the bronze of Damien Joly on 1500m.

Earlier in the evening, Pauline Mahieu failed at the foot of the 100m backstroke podium and Emma Terebo in 6th place.
