You don't need a bulky machine to scan and sign documents, you can use your iPhone or iPad for this and in less than a minute, you can convert your documents into a PDF and send it wherever you want.

The Apple Notes app on iPhone and iPad gives you this feature, and can make it easy for you to fill out doctor visit forms, sign a lease, or send any other documents.

And the use of the scanning function makes the document look clear, and you can scan it in color or black and white, and electronic signature on it, in addition to the possibility of merging several pages into one file.

How to Scan a Document on an iPhone or iPad

Before getting started, it's best to place the document on a background that contrasts with the color and shape of the document, so that it's easy for your iPhone or iPad to distinguish between the document and the background.

For example, if a piece of paper is white, scan it on a dark wooden table.

  • Open the Apple Notes app and tap the pen and paper icon in the lower right corner to create a new document.

  • Tap on the camera icon and tap on the Scan Documents icon.

  • Place the document under the iPhone or iPad camera lens;

    An orange shaded box will appear over the perimeter of the document and scanning will be performed automatically.

    You can also press the shutter button or one of the volume buttons to take the photo if it is not immediately scanned.

  • You can click and drag each corner of the scan box to align it so that only the document, not the background, is captured.

  • If you are scanning a multipage PDF file, you can continue to scan page by page and the app will combine them into one file.

  • Press Save once you have finished capturing the scan.

  • To rename the document, tap the file name at the top of the scanning area.

Using the scanning function makes the document look like a real scan and not just a picture of a piece of paper (networking sites)

Additional steps to modify documents after scanning

  • Once the document is saved, an option will appear below the image that allows you to add a page by clicking on the plus icon in the lower left corner.

  • You can cut the document by selecting the crop icon, which looks like a square.

  • This will open a 4-point cropping box with a round magnifying glass that will help you cut your document to exactly the size you specify.

  • To adjust the orientation of the document, select the rotate icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

  • To send the document click the "Export" button in the upper right corner for scanning

  • You can also click on the option to print, copy, share or save the file to your files.

  • To sign the PDF file, click on the "Mark Up" option after clicking on Export.

    Press the (+) button at the bottom right, and click Signature.

  • You can add a saved signature or create a new one.

  • The size of your signature is adjustable and you can place it anywhere you want on the document.
