China News Service, August 16. According to Cambodia's "Cambodia Daily", the Royal Government of Cambodia is currently formulating a "special tourism policy" that can promote business tourism, as business tourists stay longer than ordinary tourists.

The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism recently held a seminar to discuss in detail the formulation of "special tourism policies".

Di Chanta, secretary of state at the Ministry of Tourism, said that "special tourism" refers to tourists who come to Cambodia and are also investors, who own and operate businesses or engage in trade activities in Cambodia.

Of course business tourists stay longer and spend more than regular tourists.

He said the average tourist spends US$700 to US$800 on a visit to Cambodia, but business tourists spend US$2,000 to US$3,000 per capita and come more frequently than regular tourists.

In addition, the "special tourism policy" also aims to attract ordinary tourists to become quality tourists, that is to say, to convert them from ordinary tourists to business tourists.

Another purpose of the "special tourism policy" is to attract retirees and "vacation tourists".

In order to attract such tourists, the Cambodian government and the Ministry of Tourism are considering allowing such tourists to buy houses in major tourist destinations in Cambodia for vacation and leisure.

But the government and the Ministry of Tourism have not yet reached a conclusion.

It is reported that Cambodia's tourism revenue in 2019 was about 6 million US dollars, and the total number of tourists received was about 20 million, including about 6.6 million international tourists, of which business tourists accounted for about 10%.
