The regional election is the election that is rated as least important by the voters.

Several people, for example, mistook the region's most responsible politician for an actor when we asked in town last spring.

But the region's politicians are responsible for over 60 billion in tax funds each year and they bear overall responsibility for healthcare.

The politicians had to choose a place

Now at SVT Nyheter Väst we take a look at all the parties in the regional board in Västra Götaland.

The eight parties' top candidates have themselves chosen the location and activity during the interview with us.

A picture emerges of a middle-aged, relatively sporty group of civil servants - only SD's candidate has a working profession and, together with MP's candidate, is the only one who has not turned 40.

What they all have in common is that all eight are bracing themselves for a fight over healthcare – and they heap praise on healthcare staff and shortened queues.

In terms of numbers, only the Left Party wants to raise taxes to be able to improve healthcare.

SD finances its investments with frozen grants for, among other things, culture, and S counts on state subsidies from an S-led government and wants to take away the surplus that the region has now.

Order drawn

The recordings were made in May and June and the editors have drawn lots in the order in which the features are published.

The Democrats have a mandate in the regional council but do not sit on the regional board.

Therefore, we have not portrayed them in this publication.
