Twelve days have passed since a mine collapsed as a result of a landslide in the Coahuila region of Mexico.

Three people were rescued the same day.

Another ten people are still stuck in the mine.

On Saturday morning, the Mexican authorities reported that there has been a sudden increase in water levels in the mine, writes the newspaper El Universal.

They also announced that they are devising a new strategy to lower the water levels and thus reach the miners.

- I want to be clear that we will be here 24 hours a day, said Miguel Riquelme, governor of Coahuila,

Family members of the trapped miners are now appealing for more help, both from the Mexican authorities and from abroad.

- We are afraid that they will tell us that it is impossible to save them, but we will not allow that, says a miner's wife to El Universal.
