Pfizer CEO Albert Bulla has tested positive for COVID-19, the company said.

"I am grateful for up to the 4th dose of Pfizer-Bio & Tech's vaccine," Bulla said in a statement.

Pfizer developed a COVID-19 vaccine together with Germany's BioNTech and was the first to receive emergency use approval from governments including the United States.

In the United States, the second booster shot (boost shot), that is, up to the fourth dose, is allowed for people 50 years of age and older.

Bulla, the CEO of Pfizer, also started taking Paxrovid, an oral COVID-19 treatment developed by Pfizer.

"I am confident of a speedy recovery," Buller said in a statement.
