“The fire in the main multi-storey building has been extinguished, but smoldering hearths remain,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Vardazaryan noted that the danger of the collapse of the building remains.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, Hayk Kostyanyan, said that the death toll from the explosion in the Surmalu shopping center had risen to six.

As the head of the press service of Yerevan Municipality Levon Sardaryan stated, search and rescue operations at the site of the explosion at the Surmalu market are proceeding slowly, as there may be living people under the rubble.

On the fact of the explosion at the Surmalu market in Yerevan, a criminal case was initiated under two articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
