On Monday, Ulf Holst submitted an application for leave to appeal in the Malin case to the Court of Appeal for lower Norrland in Sundsvall, the court that on July 19 this year sentenced his client to five years in prison for the murder of Malin Lindström.

In the request that SVT read, Holst writes, among other things, that the 44-year-old should be acquitted, that he should be released and that the claims for damages from Malin's relatives should be rejected.

Ulf Holst writes that the DNA match that led to the rise in the case earlier this summer "hardly...revealed the truth behind Malin's death."

The High Court will now forward it to the Supreme Court, which will decide whether the application for a new examination of the case should be granted or not.
