Xinhua News Agency, United Nations, August 15 (Reporter Wang Jiangang) Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, said at the Security Council's open meeting on Yemen on the 15th that the Yemen truce agreement should be fully implemented, the achievements of the truce should be further expanded, efforts should be made to improve the humanitarian situation, and create a good environment. regional environment.

Zhang Jun said that since the truce in Yemen, civilian casualties caused by military operations have been greatly reduced, but Taz, Marib, Shebwa and other places are still not peaceful, and the security situation is still fragile.

Relevant parties should fully and fully implement the truce commitment, avoid all attacks on civilians and civilian facilities, make full use of the mechanism of the Military Coordination Committee to maintain regular communication, and solve problems through dialogue and consultation.

Zhang Jun said that China calls on all parties in Yemen to seize the window of opportunity brought about by the extension of the truce, and meet each other halfway on issues related to people's livelihood and well-being, such as the opening of roads in Taz and other provinces, the payment of civil servants' salaries, and the expansion of international routes at Sana'a Airport.

China welcomes the progress made by the Yemeni government and the Houthis on prisoner exchange.

It is hoped that the parties to the conflict will fully demonstrate their political will and flexible posture, strengthen consultation under the mediation of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, and reach an agreement on the extension of the truce agreement at an early date.

Zhang Jun said that due to the shrinking international aid and resource input, the United Nations' aid projects in Yemen are facing the pressure of insufficient funds.

Since the beginning of the summer, Yemen has been hit by floods in many places, leaving tens of thousands of people homeless, especially the refugee camp in Marib province.

China calls on the international community to take immediate action to provide the affected people with basic daily necessities and medical supplies to prevent a large-scale humanitarian disaster.

All parties in Yemen should also provide necessary facilitation and cooperation for humanitarian operations.

Zhang Jun emphasized that the situation in Yemen is related to the peace and stability of the Gulf region, and the key to realizing the security and stability of the Gulf is in the hands of the Gulf countries themselves.

China encourages countries in the region to adhere to the principles of mutual respect, meet each other halfway, and progress in an orderly manner, and resolve their respective concerns through consultations on an equal footing.

Countries outside the region should provide useful support for the peaceful settlement of the Yemen issue.

China has always advocated respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and abiding by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

China will always stand with the Yemeni people and continue to work with the Gulf countries and the international community to make greater contributions to promoting the Yemeni peace process.
