Anastasia Aleksandrova, 12 years old, lives with her grandparents on the outskirts of Slovyansk in eastern Ukraine, just 12 kilometers from the front.

No one her age remains in the residential area and since Russia's invasion, school lessons are held online.

- I have no one to spend time with, I sit with my phone all day.

Before, my friends and I used to always be outside and cycle, she says.

Many cities are almost empty after hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians fled to safety.

The young people who remain struggle with isolation and boredom, in addition to the fears and violence that the war has brought.
