In order to save money, Tidaholm's social democratic management at the time decided to close the Lindängen retirement home in Ekedalen outside Tidaholm.

Large protests led to a referendum - but the municipality moved all residents BEFORE the referendum.

Political scientists criticized the municipality for undermining the decision-making process and believed that the municipal management was trying to get people to give up their commitment.

In the referendum, an overwhelming majority - 83 percent - wanted Lindängen to remain.

Later, the S management resigned when they did not get their budget through.

On Monday, Lindängen's premises were shown off by the group that worked for the home to remain together with the now ruling bourgeois majority.

The Social Democrats in Tidaholm are adamant that they do not want to keep Lindängen as a retirement home.

So the question then is whether (S) will close Lindängen again if they emerge victorious from the election?

- What we are saying is that we can use the premises better in another way and that we can solve elderly care in another way, says opposition councilor Anna-Karin Skatt (S).

Does that mean that the Social Democrats can consider closing Lindängen again if you come to power?

- I don't want to get into that discussion before we have an election result.

But we would have rather seen that the move in did not take place before the election.
