This is reported by the public broadcasting corporation Yle.
“Next Tuesday, a government meeting will be held to consider the issue of restricting the travel of Russians,” the report says.
It is noted that at the moment the Finnish authorities do not have a definite position on the issue of issuing visas to Russian citizens.
The statement also says that the Finnish Foreign Ministry has studied possible options that would make it more difficult for Russians to obtain a tourist visa.
“The government should weigh options at an informal Tuesday evening meeting,” the authors concluded.
Earlier, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said that Finland had developed a mechanism to reduce the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens.
Prior to this, Yle wrote that, according to a survey conducted, more than half of the inhabitants of Finland would support the termination of the issuance of Schengen tourist visas to Russian citizens.
