If a municipality has more than 60 percent men or women, the municipality is counted as male- or female-dominated.

In Trelleborg, the proportion of men is 75 percent.

"Don't see it as a problem"

Among the municipality's politicians, opinions differ on whether it is a problem or not that Trelleborg has the lowest percentage of women in politics in the whole of Sweden.

- I don't see it as a problem, says Helmuth Petersén (SD), opposition councilor in Trelleborg.

- It is not something to be proud of, but it is difficult to attract women, says Ann Kajson Carlqvist (M), municipal councillor.

- I don't want to use the word disaster, but it is extremely sad, says Maria Wilhelms (MP), member of the municipal council.

Not intending to take an equality course

In Trelleborg, the politicians in the municipal council have received an offer to take an equality course.

- I think that is great for those who have not understood in 2022 that men and women are equal, says Helmuth Petersén (SD), opposition councilor in Trelleborg.

Have you walked it?

- No, and I won't do it either, he says.

In the video, Helmuth Petersén (SD) tells why he refuses the equality course and Maria Wilhems (MP) about her experiences of being a woman in politics.
