- The parties that are large in the Scanian municipalities are parties that often do not use any tools to achieve an even gender distribution on the ballots, says Jessika Wide, political scientist at Umeå University.
She has conducted research in areas such as local democracy and women's political representation.
- The responsibility lies with the parties to work strategically with member recruitment and candidate nomination.
They need to critically examine the criteria used in the nomination work, she says.
